"His tweets were meant to alert Sec. Mnuchin" — this is one of the most ludicrous answers I've ever heard and as you can see her answer was pre-written pic.twitter.com/lL3TDifoyh— Timothy Burke (@bubbaprog) May 20, 2020
The prediction is that within two weeks we'll enter the month when people are dying at the rate of 3000 a week. May it never come true, but still....
These are two leading stories at Raw Story:
Lindsey Graham caves to pressure from Trump
and
President Donald Trump’s tweets accusing two vital swing states – Nevada and Michigan – of acting “illegally” by making it easier for their residents to vote by mail during the pandemic were just “alerts” meant just for the eyes of the Secretary of the Treasury and the Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
The Graham story is about seeking "unusually broad powers to subpoena over any individual named in the Department of Justice’s internal review of a secret FBI surveillance warrant over a former staffer of President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign." McConnell is all for this, and the article says it may prompt hearings up to Election Day (not likely; Congress goes into recess a month before Election Day, IIRC. Both McConnell and Graham are up this year, and will have more important things to do in October.)
The attempt by the Press Secretary to lie again about what's going on with the President is just a weak effort to divert attention from his clueless and clumsy timing, threatening Michigan even as an entire town goes underwater.

Having put McEnany out there to lie to the American public (call it what it is), Trump is already crawfishing (quelle surprise!):
A day in Trump reporting: the president now says of withholding federal funding to Michigan, which he threatened in a morning Tweet, "I don't think it's going to be necessary," per pool.— Annie Karni (@anniekarni) May 20, 2020
At least Ron Ziegler was more artful: "That statement is no longer operative." (And if you don't know who Ziegler was, git offa mah lawn, ya punk!)
And as for Trump's swipe at Michigan today:
We have sent our best Military & @FEMA Teams, already there. Governor must now “set you free” to help. Will be with you soon! https://t.co/cuG1YacPdx— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 20, 2020

Good thing Trump doesn't know about this, that would REALLY piss him off!
Let’s be clear: this is hugely embarrassing for @realDonaldTrump.— The Real Reed Galvin (@reedgalen) May 20, 2020
Honestly, though, is there a former president, living or dead, that wouldn’t beat him?
Evan Buchanan would like his chances. https://t.co/vwQIYqWHFi
Oh, well, at least Brad Parscale is getting rich, right?
This is just another example that @realDonaldTrump is the worst manager America has ever seen. Don, you got conned … by your IT guy. pic.twitter.com/x5i7GRqEYb— The Lincoln Project (@ProjectLincoln) May 20, 2020
But back to the stories I started with; all of this, from the stories to that last tweet, are a mere dalliance to the great masses of the American people, the many-headed, the populi with or without vox, as the case may be. Do they really care about these things in the time of pandemic? Especially when we're already receiving stark reminders that Nature always bats last, and always bats 1.000, and hurricane and tornado and flood seasons haven't even started yet? (Still five months before November to go.)

Officials had been warning nearby residents to evacuate all day Tuesday because of fears the hydroelectric dam holding back Wixom Lake would break. https://t.co/WjrDpCj6Pw
Who's really going to work up even a wet snap over Sen. Lindsay's hearing hissy fits about arcane government functions that have nothing to do with whether or not we should go out, wear masks, risk disease and death, get the economy started, or just wait for the next natural disaster while Washington screams about who stole the tarts?
