Popcorn Futures Trending

One post from [Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid] Miller on Sunday included an image of Soros with accompanying text that read, “Climate change didn’t work. Impeachment didn’t work. The virus didn’t work. Start the race war.”

“The man is pure evil!” Miller commented.

“Folks this is not a protest,” read another post from early Sunday morning. “It is a well orchestrated attack on America's major cities with plans to attack the police, riot, loot, and burn buildings. The so-called ‘protestors’ are, in fact, domestic terrorists who were organized and paid for by George Soros to further divide our country. These terrorists were bused into these large cities. We must repel this attack and hold those responsible for their actions. This must be brought to a stop now or we will lose control of our country!”
Hold on, it gets better:

On Thursday, Gov. Greg Abbott and other top Texas Republicans called for the resignation of the GOP chairs in Bexar and Nueces counties after they shared on social media a conspiracy theory that Floyd’s death was a “staged event,” apparently to gin up opposition to Trump.

Wait for it!

A spokesman for Abbott did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Miller’s posts.
First:  the number of GOP chairs who have posted racist comments on-line is now up to 12, including Bexar and Nueces counties.  One chair, the Harris County GOP Chairman, has already resigned.  Harris County is largely Houston, the most ethnically diverse major city in the country.  His resignation was pretty much inevitable.

Second:  Sid Miller is an elected official, just like the Governor or, for that matter, Dan Patrick.  Patrick is a blatant racist, but he hasn't been recently, so all goes unnoticed.  He did advocate old people should die to restart the economy, but since the economy restarted without human sacrifices (at least of that kind) and it wasn't overtly racist, all is apparently forgiven.  Miller stands before the Governor as Patrick does:  an equally elected Texas official.  Abbott can't do anything about the stupid things Miller says, not without spitting in the eye of Texas voters who voted for Miller and might not vote for Abbott if he did spit in Miller's eye.  He can't force Miller to resign and if he even suggested it Miller would just post it on Facebook and tell Abbott to kiss his ass (probably in those words).  The vote in Texas has traditionally been GOP because of the country, not the cities.  Voter turnout is usually low, and the cities just don't hold up their end with the larger populous against the more retrograde voters in the rural areas.  Joe Biden thinks that might be changing, seeing as how he's tied with Trump in Texas.  Biden thinks Texas could be won by a Democratic Presidential candidate in November.  Well, there was a BLM march in Vidor, Texas, today:

Anything is possible; even Texas' electoral votes going to Biden (at which point Trump is gone, no matter what else happens), and Democrats taking control of the the Lege just in time for redistricting.

As Molly used to say (may she rest in peace!):  Nothin' but good times ahead!
