NEW: A senior Pentagon official tells @CBSNews David Martin that on Monday the president said he wanted 10k troops patrolling streets across the country. In a heated conversation in the Oval Office, Barr, Esper, & Milley advised him against it.— Norah O'Donnell 🇺🇸 (@NorahODonnell) June 6, 2020
More tonight on @CBSEveningNews
Or did they tell him it couldn't be done and it wouldn't be supported by DOJ, the Pentagon, and the Joint Chiefs, because it would be illegal and unconstitutional?*
I thought this ad's question was more rhetorical than literal; now I'm not as sure (though it doesn't mean Trump could take control of the country, it does mean he'd make a damned sloppy swipe at it):

*10,000 troops in about 140 cities (about the number at the time with marches/riots), would be about 70 soldiers per city. Not exactly the impressive goose-stepping Trump undoubtedly envisioned. Even in his dreams he's incompetent and incapable.
