Well, that went well....

The lines that stuck out to Greg Sargent from last night alone:

I am so in awe of your leadership. Honestly, I know many people have said often interesting things, but it takes a true leader to be able to ignore all that stuff and do what is right, and not be offended by all the words being said.

Proof that two people can see the same thing and come to starkly different conclusions, or, as I like to say, "Why there are four Gospels."

It starts by rejecting radicals who want to drag us into the dark, and embracing the man who represents a bright and beautiful future for all. It starts by reelecting Donald J. Trump president of the United States.

Well, that's Don, Jr.  'nuff said.

There’s only one person who has empathized with everyday Americans and actually been fighting for them over the past four years, and that is President Donald Trump.

Picture.  Thousand words.  Etc.

We will build a future where America remains the greatest country ever to exist in the history of the world. All of that is within our grasp if we secure four more years for the defender of Western civilization, our champion, my friend, the 45th president of the United States, President Donald J. Trump.

Straight outta 19th century European colonialism.  The same fine people who gave us the concept of "race" in the first place.

He built the greatest economy the world has ever known. For the strivers — working class and middle class.

Which is why he gave a tax cut to the rich?  Why so many of us are unemployed?  Also, you have to imagine that quote being proclaimed in a screech, which makes it irrefutable?

Just imagine what 2020 would have looked like, fighting for your life, without Donald Trump fighting for it too. In January, there would have been no China travel ban. Millions would have died. Millions more would have been infected. There would have been no record levels of testing … no fast track for a vaccine.

Reality was kept away from the cameras by a large contingent of armed guards, each of which is a huge guy, big guy, with tears in his eyes, saying "Sir."

You have used your strength to make America strong again. Sacrificed the life you built to make America proud again. And risked everything to make America safe again.

American Civic Religion 101.  Even Kim Jong Un thinks that's over the top.

Mr. President, lead the way. Millions in our American family believe in this path to destiny. Guide us to that horizon!

Redux.  Trump is the shining city on the hill!

Of course he is.

And Greg never even got to the RNC's handling of the coronavirus:

I will note some news outlets want to give Trump credit for Remdisiver (sp?) and something else he "fast-tracked" mostly against  proper procedures (the plasma thing is already biting him in the ass, as well as the FDA).

Twice nothing is still nothing.  Trump has neither provided any benefits nor mitigated any harm.

Other moments worth remembering:

Have you ever in your life seen two less impressive people speaking?  I wouldn't hire either of these people to fix a traffic ticket.

True.

The inhuman sex drug traffickers are just fine, however.

It's the self-description as self-deception that's the strangest part:

Charlie Kirk was also responsible for the quote above about "Western civilization."  In the future, he will not be allowed anything sharper than a rubber ball, for his own protection.  Or he'll be relocated to a mall and work as a cineplex.
