But Cornyn later told me: “I think the real question is what’s on (Trump’s) mind? The biggest concern I have is about the idea of impeaching a former officeholder without explicit authorization in the constitution and what that means to exactly retribution on political opponents”

Returns me to my argument that impeachment is the most worthless provision in the Constitution.

We may have laid the groundwork for indicting Trump for incitement, if not sedition.  But giving the POTUS even more power than before, including the power to treat the Constitution like a set of suggestions?

Yeah, these GOP Senators won't be around to see that, so what do they care?  "Let them eat cake!"
