The first point is a good one. The refusal to testify was actually made to reporters, outside of the letter. Why? Plausible deniability if Trump gives a deposition (that’s what it would be if he doesn’t appear at trial for live testimony)? Does seem strange they wouldn’t just say “No” in writing.

Put a pin in that (as we used to say). Something may come of it.

The second interesting thing is the response of the House Manager. Again, that’s exactly what the House wanted. This is the last word on the subject. Unless Trump’s lawyers want to say the same thing over again. Or Trump wants the last word by...
