I heard Mr. Alberta on "Morning Joe" warning us that the worst calamity the country has ever faced (that was his tone, anyway) is anonymous white guys at keyboards.

One guy, so far, has actually attacked an FBI office.  He died in a cornfield in a shootout with police.

There was supposed to be a mass protest at FBI headquarters, according to the scary monsters at their keyboards.  No one showed up.

When non-white people plot acts of terror and death against Americans, they tend not to broadcast it and ask for like-minded people to join them in their proposed criminal activity.  MOSTLY BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT IDIOTS!  And if they do carry out their heinous acts, we are told not to be afraid but to be angry and to smite the heathen unbelievers in democracy and freedumb!

But when white guys publicly declare their determination to DO SOMETHING!, even when they don't do it, we're all supposed to be afraid, be very afraid, because the end is near and the sky is falling!

I'm not talking about FBI agents being threatened now, along with their families, or legitimate concerns FBI offices might be attacked.  That's crime prevention, that's responding to specific threats, and I have no disagreement with it. Those are legitimate concerns; but neither do they indicate the imminent fall of the Republic.

But curious this idea that if the threat to democracy comes "from within," it will come from angry white men with keyboards and AR-15's.  And not from non-white people angry over the death of George Floyd, or the writings of Salman Rushdie, or...anything, really.  That we take in stride (although the assault on Mr. Rushdie is pretty damned disturbing, especially with reports that his attacker had recent contact with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard; reports that may be true or false, but are still disquieting.).  Angry white men with keyboards, though, mean:  'WE'RE DONE FOR!  WE'RE DONE FOR!"

I'm just wondering why that is.
