Rep. Andy Ogles: "We have to deport, deport, and deport, and then you analyze those folks that are coming into this country. You have to love this country. This isn't me being prejudiced. We want our country back. If you don't love this country, if you don't want to provide and be a part of our society, you can get the hell out.""AMERICA! LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!” It was about supporting the Vietnam War (mostly).
In this iteration, it’s about racist xenophobia. Which is…better? Or just rhyming? Somehow….
(He even reintroduces the old euphemism of “prejudice,” which meant you didn’t like non/white people, but at least you didn’t hate ‘em, like the racists did. “Prejudiced” was one step below “racist,” which was one step below “white supremacist,” but still one step above “I just wouldn’t want my daughter to marry one.” Which, after all, was just sensible, and certainly not prejudiced at all. Just like wanting to take the country back, from the wrong people. Why, that’s just common sense.
Old times there are not forgotten. Look away, look away.)
