Why Nobody Wants Trump At Their Funeral

On Friday, Trump also managed to disgust the French by acting out the 2015 terror attack at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris. He used his finger as an imaginary gun and said, “They took their time and gunned them down one by one. Boom! Come over here. Boom! Come over here. Boom.” He insisted armed civilians could have stopped the attack that killed a total of 130 people.

Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo blasted Trump’s comments as “contemptuous.” Former French president Francois Hollande called his remarks “shameful” and “obscene” in a tweet.
And remember this?

“We are fixing and building walls, but we need much more money,” he said at a Cleveland event touting his tax law Saturday. “We may have to close up our country to get this straight, because we either have a country or we don’t.”
The man has no respect for anyone, or anything, including good sense.

  1. No one wants an insult clown at the funeral. Or much of anywhere.

That our Constitutional system wouldn't have spat him out by now is proof our Constitution is dangerously flawed. That someone of his like could be there after losing the election to start with.

  2. In defense of our hapless establishment, I would note that there have been warnings about "the imperial presidency" most of my life, and that the constantly growing power of the presidency has been the result, not so much of presidential ambition, but of the advantage of the Congress in shuffling responsibility for everything onto the president.

Looking for silver linings, my hope is that our current incumbent, through his continuous abuse of powers that were previously thought unreviewable, will finally shock Congress into taking some responsibility and passing legislation returning the office of chief magistrate to enforcement of congressional laws. But I hate to think how far we have to fall before Congress will be so moved. The most we got out of the Nixon debacle was mandatory ethics training for lawyers, and I can't say that that's really had much of a real impact.
