REPORTER: Any second thoughts about escalating trade war with China?— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) August 25, 2019
TRUMP: "Yeah. Sure. Why not? ... I have second thoughts about everything."
R: Are you going to declare a national emergency on China?
TRUMP: "Well I have the right to, if I want." (He then lies about tariffs) pic.twitter.com/722yl1n1Td
...to stay in one place.
So now he has the "right" to declare an international emergency on China (that's what it would be)? Which means he hasn't done it yet? Or he has, but he didn't mean to? Or he hasn't, but he'll get around to it sometime? Maybe. "We'll see what happens"?
I don't think he's as concerned with the future of the economy or his re-election chances as he was last week. In fact, I think he's completely lost the thread. Walking the corridors of the White House in the wee hours, talking to the pictures, would be an improvement, if you get my drift.

Well, and this rousing defense of tariffs on goods imported from China (which are not the same things as "Chinese goods"):Here’s your reminder that the man running up the federal deficit and waging an ill-informed global trade war is a serial bankruptcy artist who only avoided one (of an eventual six) corporate bankruptcies and personal bankruptcy because his father bailed him out. #MAGA 🇺🇸🇺🇸 https://t.co/N2NZgGRDo4— Tim O'Brien (@TimOBrien) August 25, 2019
Lindsay, in full butch mode, tells America to suck it up. This argument assumes, of course, that trade wars are "won" like we won WWII. Except we aren't at war, and the outcome is more likely to be akin to Vietnam, or even WWI. Because China sure isn't going to whatever Trump wants.TRADE WAR IMPACT: @LindseyGrahamSC tells @margbrennan “We're now at that part in the trade war where you feel price increases at Walmart.” pic.twitter.com/Tsu70NWlEV— Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) August 25, 2019
