Asked about whether corporations were smart to cancel conferences and travel, Trump says, “I wouldn’t be generally inclined to do it.” On a personal level, he says he’s “not at all” refusing to shake hands. “I feel very secure.” pic.twitter.com/f5Qt4ekwpr— Greg Bluestein (@bluestein) March 6, 2020
In a sign of how this week has gone, basically all the events in this Monday story that said they wouldn't cancel-- SXSW, Ultra, Emerald City Comicon, etc. -- have canceled due coronavirus concerns.— Toluse Olorunnipa (@ToluseO) March 6, 2020
University of Washington has also closed its classrooms. https://t.co/z1tustyUNq
Also... first time in a while there are no Trump rallies on the books pic.twitter.com/Wabdn9j19P— Toluse Olorunnipa (@ToluseO) March 6, 2020
Overlook the innumeracy of the argument about reported cases. Pay attention to the "it's all about ME!" of that, and the rest of his statements.
Trump at the CDC: "As of the time I left the plane with you, we had 240 cases, that's at least what was on a very fine network known as Fox News. I know you love it. But that's what I happened to be watching, and how was the show last night? Did it get good ratings by the way?"— Meridith McGraw (@meridithmcgraw) March 6, 2020
Unfuckingbelievable. Meanwhile, back in reality:
In Washington state’s King County, which has reported a cluster of COVID-19 infections and 10 deaths, public health officials have recommended that people consider postponing events or gatherings and should avoid visiting hospitals or nursing homes. The local health department doesn’t recommend closing schools.
A number of companies with a large employee base in Washington state are telling their employees to work from home. This includes Microsoft Corp. MSFT, -2.82%, which told employees in the Puget Sound region in Washington state and the San Francisco Bay Area to work from home until March 25, and Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG, -1.56% Google, which has recommended that employees at offices in Washington state work from home, if possible. The company made the decision after consulting with public health officials, according to a person familiar with the situation who is not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The work-from-home edict does not apply to the company’s headquarters and satellite offices in Silicon Valley for now.
Even as he wouldn't cancel group events, his campaign is cancelling....group events. And as for watching the donut, not the hole:
But the President is still shaking hands, so where's the problem? Nothing matters, however, because the President is a moron:The reason we need to stop the spread of Convid-19 is not for us or even our children it’s for our parents and grandparents and people with compromised immune systems.— Molly Jong-Fast (@MollyJongFast) March 6, 2020
No, wait, there's more!"The [coronavirus] tests are all perfect. Like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. This was not a perfect as that, but pretty good." -- is Trump referring to the transcript of his phone call with the Ukrainian president here? pic.twitter.com/FU5XxPTu7Z— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) March 6, 2020
Here's Trump rambling at length about how smart he is and how well he understands public health pic.twitter.com/1Co6MaRkzl— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) March 6, 2020
Great God in heaven, we are so fucked.
I never thought I'd say this, but I have a great desire to shake his hand right now. And to cough on him.
