add this to the growing list of public figures unironically calling for reopening while under self-quarantine https://t.co/QaghfUGr25— Catherine Rampell (@crampell) May 12, 2020
I can't believe I live in a country where the nation's leading infectious disease expert has to explain to a Senator that we "really out to be very careful...when it comes to children." https://t.co/0cjCbwGAki— Ronald Klain (@RonaldKlain) May 12, 2020
Once again, the GOP imagines a world in which people stay home until government tells them to go outside again. Why do they imagine Americans are such docile sheep? People may return to restaurants foolishly, in isolated cases (Castle Rock is not Denver), but are parents going to send their kids back to school in August if nothing has substantially changed?
Can you imagine how to "socially distance" an entire elementary school for even one school day? Or a high school, for that matter. And then there are the universities, where the students are, by law, adults who can make their own decisions:
FAUCI on possibility of universities reopening in the fall: "The idea of having treatments available or a vaccine to facilitate the re-entry of students into the fall term would be something that would be a bit of a bridge too far." pic.twitter.com/gaG8O6UUSw— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) May 12, 2020
Funny how determined the GOP is to be the party of "We'll Tell You What To Do!"
Tennessee has about the most thoroughly perverted and degenerate Senators, though it's hard to pick them out of the crowd. I watched a little of it but I find a little of the Senate goes way past my level of tolerance.
