Whatever nuanced critiques people can make of Fauci get lost when it plays out like this https://t.co/2uroIs2dsf— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) July 12, 2020
Nuanced critiques of Fauci are fine. The man doesn't walk on water or possess all knowledge or even have a crystal ball. The question is not, "Is he ever wrong?," the question is: "Who do you trust?"
Per this poll last month by @nytimes and @SienaResearch, the public trusts Fauci (67%) on the virus far more than it does the president (26%). https://t.co/vmLrIRcr3N— Peter Baker (@peterbakernyt) July 12, 2020
It is, quite literally, a matter of faith.
Amazing the WH comms shop is doing an oppo dump on its own, decades-long health expert in the middle of a pandemic. Everything to the WH is an up/down on Trump. https://t.co/o0bMU6Bdrc— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) July 12, 2020
Leaders are infallible in hindsight. Had Germany decided to overrun Britain, Churchill would be a failed leader, not a lauded genius. It all depends.
And I certainly don't trust the bozos in the White House.
I'll put my trust in Fauci right now, especially considering the alternatives, from Trump to Birx.
Some of Fauci's credibility comes with him being duly modest in his assertions. Though some of that probably gets lost when translated by the media.
ReplyDeleteI think if they fired Fauci at this point, Trumps approval would fall faster.
