Final thing I'd say here: My colleague @AmyEGardner broke the news of the Trump call to Raffensperger on Jan. 3. The runoff was on Jan 5. The electoral college protest was on Jan 6. The story corrected today ran on Jan 9, days after voting was over.

1) 54 days in Biden still hasn't held a press conference.

2) Not enough reporters were invited on the national tour to promote the biggest social spending bill since LBJ which is even more popular than covid vaccines.

 3) The "border crisis" is as old as Trump's "caravans of death" and as worn out. The GOP is trying desperately to make "fetch" happen and, the covid relief bill having been signed and Biden leaving town this week to promote it, WaPo needs something to fill the airwaves.

Media is a business.  They gotta sell controversy, and they don’t have Trump to provide it every 10 minutes.

I would also say this is more likely the problem:
