Why is anyone surprised that Elon Musk reacts to a fit of pique by calling people pedophiles? He has a long record of it. It’s his personality. If he didn’t have billions he’d be the scourge of some anime YouTube comment section.

It could be that Musk is actually marginally literate or, functionally illiterate. I first noticed that on comment threads where college-credentialed people, even those who taught on the college level literally couldn't read what was there on the page in 140 or fewer characters. Or he values the truth so little that he doesn't bother to tell it, I noticed lots of that when I first went online, too. It shocked me, at first.
