MTG showed pornography on the floors of Congress, and the Republicans are silent on the issue. It's abundantly clear by now that the GOP do not hold any sincere convictions about "family values" - they use it to advance their agenda of bigotry, selfishness, and cruelty.

In my lifetime: the violence visited on the marchers in civil rights protests. Church bombings. The police riot against the anti-war protesters in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention in ‘68.

Further back? The KKK terrorizing blacks away from anything resembling political activity. The inherent violence of the state enforcing Jim Crow laws. Lynchings so widespread in the early 20th century they generated a cottage industry in postcard photos of bodies hanging from trees. “Wish you were here!”

Trump injected violence into American politics? Trump couldn’t inject air into a football. The violence has been there since Adams accused Jefferson of an hermaphroditic character. It’s as American as cherry pie 🥧. That you are noticing it now doesn’t mean you just saw what has never been seen. It means you just became aware. It means you haven’t been paying attention. It means, welcome to the real world.
