South Dakota is at least closer, the New Hampshire governor Sununu sent 45 NH National Guards to the Texas border and went down a week or two ago for a photo op. This past week he made a big stink with the all Democrat NH federal representatives and senators that the 58 miles of border with Canada is being overrun and there needs to be a crackdown. There have been increased interceptions at the northern border section, but that includes not just NH, but Vermont and all of the top of New York that directly borders Canada. Essentially all of the interceptions are in NY, and no is even sure what is being intercepted (cross border maple syrup smuggling is lucrative for example). The 58 miles of NH border is in the middle of no where, just scrubby forest. The main risk of anyone there is getting Lyme disease from ticks and a nasty itch from the ever present mosquitos. Still, our gerrymandered legislature saw fit to give $1.4M to Sununu to make border noises while failing to yet again adequately fund schools. Even "moderate" Republicans like our governor look like the more radical part of the Republican party when you scratch them.
