OTOH: had the FBI openly and intentionally denied any interest in “violent rhetoric” coming from opponents to Trump (even just in reaction to such rhetoric from Trump supporters), wouldn’t that legitimately call into question the objectivity and the objective of an FBI investigation?Last year, speaking to the Jan. 6 committee, a top FBI official conceded the bureau saw a lot of violent rhetoric in the lead up to the Capitol attack.

The FBI is obligated to assess the facts before it, and any “violent rhetoric” from any party is a fact that can’t be ignored based on sources. Indeed, if the FBI ignored facts based on source, that would be a damning indictment of how they conducted the investigation.
You really can’t slice the baloney so thinly that it only has one side. Sometimes one size does fit all, purely for reasons of fairness.
