Civics Has Changed Since I Was A Kid

Canceling a newspaper subscription helps politicians who don’t want oversight, does nothing to hurt the billionaires who own the newspapers and make decisions with which you may disagree, and will result in fewer journalists trying to hold the powerful to account.

I didn’t realize I had a civic duty to subscribe to newspapers. I suppose I have to pay for cable so I can support CNN. Except I’d also be supporting FixNews, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to do that.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say more people subscribe to WaPo than own Teslas. Or Starlink terminals.

Or want to give up the convenience of Amazon.
