The Emperor Has No Brains

 


The common law tort of libel requires the libel be “published.” Which doesn’t mean printed and distributed in newspapers or books, but rather spread publicly, rather than only to the victim of the libel. If I tell you privately that I consider you a child molester and never want to speak to you again, it isn’t slander, because I never repeated the accusation to anyone else.

That’s kind of what the Complaint filed by Trump against the WSJ is getting at. That the libel was “published.” Kind of; I think. Although that’s giving more credit than is due. Primarily it’s just stupid and meaningless.

And now Trump is going to have to sue the NYT:
After Trump and Tulsi Gabbard get through prosecuting Obama, though: Well, there is that, isn’t there?

Frankly, some of this sounds familiar 
Meiselas: Now, here's another audio of Maria Farmer, one of Epstein's victims, who came forward very early on...She speaks out about an incident where she was going to Epstein's office building. Donald Trump was in the office building, she says, and Epstein tells Trump, “That one's not for you. Yours is in the other room.”

Here's what she says:

Farmer: It was when I started working for Epstein, and it was 9 at night. And Jeffrey Epstein's office was totally empty...In walks this man—when I reported him to the FBI, I said, 'That game show host Donald Trump.'...

Anyway, he walks in, and I just kind of acknowledge him with a head nod or something. And he immediately starts hitting on me. He's standing across the room, and I’m seated. He’s like—well, actually, sorry, I was just looking at something—but he’s glaring at me, looking at my legs. I told my sister, I felt like I was his dinner or his lunch, you know? That’s the way he was looking at me...These are just gross people, you know what I mean?...

He assumed I was there for him. And this is how I know: he walks up to me and goes, ‘No, no, she's not here for you.’ And they were smirking. Epstein whispered something, and then said, ‘Go in there.’

And so Trump, at 9 at night, goes into the other room. There’s someone in there for him. I don’t know who. But Epstein said, ‘No, no, no, she’s not here for you.’”
This one, however, is new to me:
Epstein victim Maria Farmer: Ivana Trump was [Ghislaine's] best friend. Donald was always hanging out with Epstein, and Ivana was always hanging out with Ghislaine. We'd ride in the car [with Ghislaine and Ivana]...I remember one occasion where Ghislaine’s like, “I have to get out right now,” and she went and got a number from a child...And everybody knew what they were doing...She didn’t bring them in the car, but she would get their phone numbers. She would drive by schools...

So to try and shut me up, they gave me one of those cheap bracelets Ivana was selling on QVC and said, “Ivana wants you to have this.” And I threw it in the garbage.
