The Difference Between A Report And A “Suggestion”

🚫 CLAIM: Over the past 48 hours, multiple media outlets have reported several false claims related to USS Abraham Lincoln's (CVN 72) deployment to the Middle East. One report alleged seven Sailors died in a brawl aboard the aircraft carrier and others have recently suggested a spike in suicidal ideations. These reports are FALSE.

✅ FACT: USS Abraham Lincoln has maintained among the highest crew reenlistment rates (84.4%) of all aircraft carriers in the U.S. Navy. The Sailors and Marines of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group remain resilient and resolved after more than 260 days at sea, 10,000 aircraft flights, and 1.5 million pounds of ordnance expended. No service members aboard the aircraft carrier have died, and the one Sailor who fell overboard Aug. 3 was quickly and safely recovered. The rampant misreporting on Abraham Lincoln's historic deployment is a disservice to our men and women in uniform and their loved ones.
Unfortunately for CENTCOM, the civilian leadership has traded their credibility for a mess of pottage.
Parnas on the dire conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln: Just imagine if the president wasn't Donald Trump and the president was Joe Biden. Imagine if the Secretary of Defense wasn't Pete Hegseth and it was Lloyd Austin.

If you had these facts come out, just one of these stories, let alone dozens and dozens of service members experiencing the same thing. Imagine one service member tries to jump off an aircraft carrier under the Biden administration.

Number one: We'd never hear the end of it. Fox News would be running it on 24/7. Jake Tapper would have written another novel.

But number two: Congress would have opened up investigations by now. They would have hauled Lloyd Austin up to Capitol Hill. They would have asked military leaders to testify. James Comer would have opened up an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden.

This is as bad as you can get. This is a dereliction of duty.
That, and brushing these widespread and credible claims off with a tweet that reads like it passed through the hands of Stephen Cheung, CENTCOM’s credibility is no better than Kegsbreath’s. Unless the military newspapers are lying, too. And the military families? Lying, too? The sailors on the Lincoln, liars?
“Why isn’t there milk?!” the family member asked in one exchange. The sailor explained that the ship’s supply runs simply can’t keep perishables fresh long enough to make the trip out to the carrier. “So the supply ship that comes here can’t bring fruits and stuff cause it can’t stay fresh long enough with the time it gets them to get here,” the sailor wrote. “So we haven’t had anything fresh but meat cause it’s freezed. Sometimes it gets here rotten.”

In a separate message, the sailor sent a photo of a plastic container of what looks like cereal, writing: “Hey honey I’m eating cereal rn. Wish there was milk tho. Haven’t had milk in 3 months.”

The sailor also described a deployment that veteran crew members are calling unlike anything they’ve experienced. “This deployment is the worst one and I pray no other boat goes through the same,” the sailor wrote. “Even people that have been deployed a hundred times claim this one to be the worst and believe it can get worse than this. The Navy does not care. The mission will always come first.”

In the same message, the sailor relayed a conversation with another crew member: “I was talking to some random dude at the smoke pit and he was saying it’s an experiment the government is doing to see how far they can push sailors limits of being out to sea with the worst experience.” The sailor was careful to frame this as something someone else said, not a claim the sailor is personally making, adding, “Idk anymore.”
The question is no longer “Is this true?”  The question is: “Why the fuck is this happening? DOD budget still not big enough? Or is the fish rotting from the head down?
