"Dr. King's dream is our dream. It is the American Dream. It's the promise stitched into the fabric of our Nation, etched into the hearts of our people, and written into the soul of humankind." pic.twitter.com/tyUZGTecDY— The White House (@WhiteHouse) January 15, 2018
Trump arrived at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach around 9 a.m. Monday, the White House press pool reported. His next public event was scheduled for 4:20 p.m., when he and first lady Melania Trump would depart Palm Beach International Airport for Washington.
Which gave him time to return to Twitter and remind us why we are all talking about what a racist he is (or may be) today, and now Sen. Dick Durbin is the Democratic party:
Senator Dicky Durbin totally misrepresented what was said at the DACA meeting. Deals can’t get made when there is no trust! Durbin blew DACA and is hurting our Military.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 15, 2018
Yeah, about that:
Why Senators Cotton & Perdue are likely lying:— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) January 14, 2018
-Trump did not initially deny saying shithole
-Trump bragged to friends he made stmt
-WH did not initially deny stmt
-Senators Graham & Durbin confirm stmt
-Original story came from sources in the room other than Graham or Durbin
Yesterday, Senators Cotton and Perdue “could not recall” what the President said. Today they can. That, folks, is a credibility problem. https://t.co/cLT13FANc3— Ben Marter (@BenMarter) January 14, 2018
But, in what appeared to be a direct jab at Sens. Tom Cotton and David Perdue, Graham said, "My memory hasn't evolved. I know what was said and I know what I said." Sen. Tim Scott, R-North Charleston, said Friday that Graham told him media reports of what Trump said were “basically accurate."
And besides:
And one more time! The President and Republican senators disputing that he said "shithole" is semantics. They are not denying that he expressed that sentiment about African countries, about Haitians, about Norway. Regardless of the specific wording he used, it does not change the attitude.— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) January 15, 2018
Either Senators Cotton and Perdue are lying about what Trump said. Or Senators Durbin, Graham and Scott are lying.— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) January 14, 2018
The article below tends to confirm that Senators Cotton and Perdue are lying. https://t.co/Ngm9y1KHDf
Lovely way to spend the day, Mr. President.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday is a day on, not a day off. It is a day of service to our communities, to our brothers and sisters, and to generations yet unborn so that we all may continue Dr. King’s work of building the beloved community. #goodtrouble pic.twitter.com/9xB7sRB6AF— John Lewis (@repjohnlewis) January 15, 2018
The dispute seems to have moved on to whether Trump said "shithole" or "shithouse" as Cotton and Perdue claim in their recovered memories to deny the leaker's original account.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Sen Durbin was not the original leaker. He simply confirmed the leaker's account. Why Perdue and Cotton want to continue to split the hair between "shithole" and "shit house" is a mystery. Is one less offensive than the other?
PS: Trump is unfit to speak the name of Martin Luther King, Jr. The best thing he could have done is to keep to his golf and keep his mouth shut.
