INBOX: Biden Sr advisor @CristobalJAlex slams @BernieSanders comments on Castro in a new statement: “Make no mistake: Bernie Sanders’ comments on Fidel Castro are a part of a larger pattern throughout his life to embrace autocratic leaders and governments across the globe...” pic.twitter.com/FuT6nqvsoh— Molly Nagle (@MollyNagle3) February 24, 2020
The only way to go is down.
Bernie has some interesting views on Castro, but what does he think of other famous despots?— Team Bloomberg (@Mike2020) February 24, 2020
We don't know, but here are some guesses:#BernieOnDespots https://t.co/l7isoNAdPd
Oh, I don't mean this will be Bernie's undoing; but he's fixing to find out what being the front-runner means.
New reporting from @NBCNews quoting a cardiologist on key medical information Senator Sanders is withholding in the wake of his recent heart attack.— Philippe Reines (@PhilippeReines) February 24, 2020
Seems like a good debate question. If not from the moderators, then his opponents. https://t.co/5dXnCff9DC
“‘Normally the heart will push out 60 percent .... If you go down to 40 or 50 percent, we regard that as mild impairment of the left ventricle. Thirty to 40 percent would be moderate. If you get to 30 percent, that would be severe.’” https://t.co/BwCM1vxsNh— George Conway (@gtconway3d) February 24, 2020
And whether Bernie likes the attention or not, his supporters surely won't:
Huh? He had a heart attack on October 1. He is running for president. He can tell us whether the number is high or low or in between. It would be fundamentally irresponsible not to ask him to do that. https://t.co/YrWcOF6zxv— George Conway (@gtconway3d) February 24, 2020
There are two relevant points here. One is Sanders PROMISED to release full medical information, and broke that promise. The second is that the failure to release key medical information suggests it is being hidden for a reason. If there is no reason, there is no reason not to!— Norman Ornstein (@NormOrnstein) February 24, 2020
One thing is sure: the questions won't go away.
Exclusive: American College of Cardiology director tells @NBCNews there's one heart measure Sanders could disclose but isn't that might help address lingering questions about his heart health: https://t.co/VAQJKLsHPk— Heidi Przybyla (@HeidiNBC) February 24, 2020
As I mentioned before, the Superintendent of Schools of my school district has to get a physical exam every year, and see a copy of the report is sent to the School Board. And a Superintendent of Schools is hardly a POTUS. The degree of privacy you give up to live in the White House and sit behind the Resolute Desk is high, but it is necessary. Put up, or shut up.
And the third is non-medical, pure politics: as things stand right now, this level of transparency, this actual fact set of a 78 year old having a heart attack — the Republicans would make it into a far more potent weapon than, “well they will do that to anyone.”— Philippe Reines (@PhilippeReines) February 24, 2020
Meanwhile, the guy in charge is clueless:
It’s past 3 am in India and Trump is tweeting the stock market looks very good on a day when the Dow was down 1000 points. pic.twitter.com/bsMOKQRYzW— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) February 24, 2020
And the guy who would replace him thinks Castro is cool:
also don’t forget how good the VW beetle was https://t.co/FRkOwtKXlf— George Conway (@gtconway3d) February 24, 2020
Nothing against Castro, personally; but why go out of your way to be contrarian on that non-issue that is now an issue?
Is there any possible future in which we aren't completely screwed?
