...as the saying goes, when someone tells you who they are the first time, believe them. I think most people do, by now:POTUS is going to try to recreate conditions and actions that he took in 2016 ahead of his re-election. In 2016 when he said things like this, there were a number of members of his own party who objected. It is now his party, and he knows he will face little to no pushback. https://t.co/fSOHD7zdx9— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) July 14, 2019
Of those four, Harris is the least well known, but she ties with Trump. It's early, but the incumbent is not showing well. Our new NBC/WSJ poll results are our first hypothetical general-election matchups for the 2020 race:— Mark Murray (@mmurraypolitics) July 14, 2019
Biden 51%, Trump 42%
Sanders 50%, Trump 43%
Warren 48%, Trump 43%
Harris 45%, Trump 44%
(July 7-9, MOE: +/- 3.5%)
And trying to recreate the election you won the first time is not exactly a recipe for success....
