On second thought, don't credit him with a strategy.A Trump adviser, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said weeks ago that the president, whose own approval ratings have stayed upside down, needs voters to feel negatively not just about his opponents but about longstanding institutions > https://t.co/SYtOq7KFAm— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) September 2, 2019
He really is just that stupid.
That was already not true. The path of the storm was even then predicted to go up the east coast toward North Carolina. Alabama doesn't have a coastline on the east coast. How do we know this was already false information? Because less than an hour later:In addition to Florida - South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated. Looking like one of the largest hurricanes ever. Already category 5. BE CAREFUL! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 1, 2019
Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian. We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama. The system will remain too far east. #alwx— NWS Birmingham (@NWSBirmingham) September 1, 2019
This was all over the internet yesterday and today, but Trump apparently finally learned about it on ABC news:
This is not a clever attempt to undermine public institutions so Trump wins! (Wins? Wins what?). This is an incredibly stupid man who has dealt with several serious hurricanes in his tenure as President, yet like the proverbial goose that meets a new world with every new day, he faces the concept of a Category 5 hurricane as a new thing every time he hears about it.....when in fact, under certain original scenarios, it was in fact correct that Alabama could have received some “hurt.” Always good to be prepared! But the Fake News is only interested in demeaning and belittling. Didn’t play my whole sentence or statement. Bad people!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 2, 2019
But that hasn't been on broadcast news or FoxNews either, so he probably hasn't heard about that.
And if you need more proof there is no strategy going on under that hair:

TRUMP: "I do have a great message for Poland & we have Mike Pence, our vice president, is just about landing right now...I just want to congratulate Poland"
