And I'm thinking this just could have something to do with today's news:
Sitting here pondering how remarkable it is that the Department of Justice is now arguing to a jury that one of President Trump’s oldest associates lied under oath and intimidated a witness to hide Trump’s zealous quest for oppo hacked by Russian intelligence officers.— Ken Dilanian (@KenDilanianNBC) November 13, 2019
And by the way:
Republicans keep saying these witnesses have no direct knowledge, without acknowledging the White House has blocked those who have such knowledge from testifying.— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) November 13, 2019
Democrats have not made that point during their own time.
True enough; but the point the Dems should have made was: "Fine! Allow the witnesses with first hand knowledge to testify! Then we can see if this investigation is well-founded or not!" Considering how things went today, I don't think the White House is anxious to do that.
But then the question is: why not? What are they afraid of?
