Does this mean it's still better for kids to go back to school than stay home, American Pediatrics Association?
Cumulative Number of Child COVID-19 Cases*
• 338,982 total child COVID-19 cases reported, and children represented 8.8% (338,982/3,835,573) of all cases
• Overall rate: 447 cases per 100,000 children in the population
Change in Child COVID-19 Cases, 7/16/20 – 7/30/20
• 97,078 new child cases reported from 7/16-7/30 (241,904 to 338,982), a 40% increase in child cases Testing (8 states reported)*

Or this?
338,982 total child COVID-19 cases (cumulative)Yeah, there's always more:
• Six states with 15,000+ cumulative child cases
• Half of states reported 5,000+ child cases
• Ten states reported fewer than 1,000 child cases
Calculated using state-level population estimates from US Census Bureau (2019)*
• Overall rate: 447 child COVID-19 cases per 100,000 children in the population
• Seventeen states and DC reported more than 500 cases per 100,000 children
And more:
From 7/16-7/30, there were 97,078 new child cases reported (241,904 to 338,982; 40% increase), with over 7 out of 10 new child cases reported from states in the South and West
All data is as of 7/30/20. What parent wants to spin the revolver and play Russian Roulette with their kids in August and September? Remembering death is the extreme outcome, and nerve damage and systemic organ failure is always an option, from which children may recover, but only over months, if not years.
I'm not condemning parents here. But the leadership on this issue, from the White House down, is pathetic. Actually, it's criminal. There's not enough water in all the rivers in America to cleanse these stables. The failure is systemic. We are all blacks and Latinos now. None of us escape this because of our race, our money, or our neighborhood. This is the direct consequence of demanding government for me, but not for thee. State's rights, limited government, "government is not the solution, government is the problem," call it what you will. All those chickens are coming home to roost. We have eaten sour grapes and set our children's teeth on edge. And their lives at risk.
We used to be better than this. Or maybe we just told ourselves we were. Welcome to the next Great Awakening. It ain't gonna be like last time.
