“What’s the downside for humoring him,” senior Republicans quipped last month.

This. This is the downside. And plenty of people saw it coming.https://t.co/dIYcfGXheD
Republicans who persist in objecting to slates of Biden electors at this point are only rewarding the insurrectionists for their seditious behavior — and the President for inciting it.

Really the bare minimum. This suggests that there will be no further objections to Biden electors — a good first step (with a number of bigger steps to go). https://t.co/RFDjNrxYsc

Again, reflecting who is doing the enforcing.Based on images on TV, the 6 p.m. curfew in DC for the rioters at the Capitol doesn't seem to be being enforced with the same vigor that curfews were enforced against people who rioted in DC last year.

Like I said, when it finally affects you:Trump appears to have deleted at least two of the tweets that Twitter locked his account over.

Just asked @RoyBlunt what he wants to hear from Trump tonight.
— Jonathan Martin (@jmartNYT) January 6, 2021
“I don’t want to hear anything,” he said.
Blunt called this the saddest day he’s been in Congress.
Seditious snake, indeed.Contrary to what @RandPaul said on Fox (and is being widely reported), word in the Senate is that, notwithstanding everything that happened today, @HawleyMO is *still* planning to join an objection to Biden’s Pennsylvania electors — giving yet more fodder to the insurrectionists.

Scores of protesters in my years of covering the Capitol have been arrested for far, far less. Lawmakers have been arrested for protesting in favor of immigration reform. https://t.co/xtLrtYc0ns
