-Carroll defamation trial if/when Trump takes control of the defense, as he can’t help himself at playing lawyer and smarter than everyone, when he’s neither.
Some of the defense motions are clearly meant to preserve error, like the latest motion to recuse Merchan. But they’re also just throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks (practically nothing) is just Trump madly spending other people’s money (up to and including this latest motion to recuse). Trump may think he’s delaying the case, or using this case as a substitute for campaigning. But he’s just annoying the shit out of the man who will decide his punishment. And Trump is likely to be barred, like any party in a jury trial, from discussing the case inside or outside the courtroom. Anything Trump says to the cameras can, once again (Carroll II), be used against him.
Trump is not a brilliant manipulator. He’s a child who cannot and will not control himself. I fully expect him to insist on taking the stand, especially since:
