Words are a stain upon the silence

Following up on Pope Francis' point about the value of silence and his last public comments of 2017 about how humanity had "wounded and wasted" the year  “in many ways with works of death, with lies and injustices”.  And, of course, and in keeping with this blog's favorite observation that "Religion is responsibility or it is nothing at all:"

“We must take responsibility for everything before God, our brothers and our creation,” [Pope Francis] said.
Which marks Donald Trump as a remarkably irreligious president; but that's another matter.

(Suppose I'll have to replace the last cat with a new one; don't want the elephants coming around....)
