It has been one of the real lessons of this how readily the self-declared libertarians are to see more people die, just yesterday I encountered one that pooh-poohed the need for social distancing with the claim that "most of those" who were going to die "would have died this year, anyway". It's had the effect of me whittling down which websites I check on from time to time, I've dropped two in the past week on that basis. The ways in which this is a failure of morality even more than intellectual rigor and engagement is far too little taken into account. When amoral callousness has the same effect as profound ignorance, can they be held to be unrelated?
