It was not a redemptive experience. I was not lauded for my "conscience." I was unemployed for a very long time.
I really wonder how many people who think Dr. Birx should have quit have, themselves, quit over a principle. Damned few, I'll warrant. Even fewer would do it twice.

I'd like to know who any journalists holding her in contempt work with and for people who have done at least as bad if not worse. The problem, for her, was that she knew he and the Republican-fascists would replace her with someone who would be far worse in a public health emergency. I can't say that I admire her but I don't hold her in contempt. I hold the ones who are asking Biden why he's not thanking Trump now in a lot more contempt, she had an excuse for what she did and didn't do, they have no excuse at all.
ReplyDeleteThe bills keep coming an the mortgage needs to be paid. Having been through a recent job loss, I will be honest and say I am willing to grovel and put up with endless crap to not go through another job hunt. Thankfully so far that isn't the case with my new job, but being righteous won't keep the bills paid, the kids in school and college, and so on. Unless you have a trust fund or tenure, a job is a series of lesser and greater compromises.
