On Trump being nominated for Speaker:
He's got wall to wall court dates, has no idea how the house functions, and is trying to run a presidential campaign! it's a sign of just how completely broken the gop is that this is even a fanciful discussion. This "trying to run a presidential campaign:” what does it mean?
There have been 2 GOP debates; Trump hasn’t attended either, and is pushing the RNC to cancel the rest and, in effect, coronate Trump as the party candidate, because polls are vox dei.
Don’t look at me; everybody acts like it’s true.
He’s had a handful of rallies, and it appears those are flagging. The most recent was in a small venue he couldn’t even fill. He went to a college football game in Iowa and everyone near him gave him the finger. Was that campaigning?
I’m not trying to be technical here, but most of his “campaigning” seems to be sending out pleas for money and screaming “ELECTION INTERFERENCE!” about every case he’s involved in.
Is a candidate who isn’t campaigning but says he is, indeed says he doesn’t need to and let’s just call it now and give him the nomination (so the RNC can raise campaign money while he begs for dollars for his lawyers), really campaigning at all?
I mean, why should we play into his excuse to shout “ELECTION INTERFERENCE!” when he thinks it’s just a defense to civil and criminal charges and he claims before the first primary that he’s won (vox dei) and he doesn’t need to campaign?
It’s letting Trump frame the narrative, isn’t it?
