My memories of Reagan are that he was a doofus figurehead run by his COS and people like Rumsfeld (he was the model for W.’s Administration, which Cheney openly ran), who amiably tried to give away the store at Reykjavik and was demented for at least the last half of his second term. He thought both the substance of Iran-Contra and the lunacy of “Star Wars” (the weapons tech, not the movie) were “neat.”

To see him held up as the wise All-Father against whom the GOP has apostosized indicates the paucity of  conservatism in America, and how short a distance it had to fall to reach its current state.
