What locked in Harris was the overwhelming resistance of D voters and activists to anyone else. It was national columnists and a large number of D elites pushing for a thunderdome primary. A good bit of this was support for Harris herself. A lot of it was … https://t.co/Hl78aCTNoJ
And still missing the target. “Thunderdome” would just be the ‘64 convention (before primaries) redux. I.e., elected delegates being campaigned by candidates to win their votes. Until primaries, that system was considered “democratic.” Now we criticize primaries because “primary voters” are more partisan than the general electorate. But is that, or is it not, “democratic”?11/ Once Biden ended his campaign all the delegates have a total free choice. What killed thunderdome was the mass of the party making it impossible for anyone to challenge Harris.

As I said, Kamala Harris was my second choice in Maine's ranked-choice voting primary in 2000, Joe Biden was my third. I would bet you that a hell of a lot more voters had her as their second choice this year if, for some reason, Joe Biden didn't finish the race. The same assholes who are whining about her sewing up the nomination are the same ones who were pushing the possibility of those getting the nomination WHO DIDN'T EVEN RUN IN 2000 AND WHO WEREN'T ON THE WINNING TICKET FOR THE PRIMARY THIS YEAR.
ReplyDeleteThey are all A. G. Sulzbergers, many of them falling into the Trump tax-giveaway tax bracket. I suspect anyone in that tax bracket of being a covert Trump supporter until they prove otherwise.
