Joe Biden Remains Old

Somebody didn’t get the memo. Just a reminder that Joe Biden is old.

The Theological Question…

...of whether dropping bombs on behalf of Israel’s prime minister is the “blessing” contemplated by what God told Abraham would fill several volumes of midrash.

And never reach the conclusion Sen. War On, Bitches Graham is looking for.

Trump Got Elected

Bibi wants a “King’s ‘X’,” too.

Pretty Sure I Saw This Movie During The Vietnam War

And what was accomplished? I’m pretty sure no one in this country knows for sure right now. I’m also sure Hegseth is as reliable as the nightly “body counts” Walter Cronkite repeated so dutifully.

Please don’t ever tell me the press is worse than it’s ever been.

“Mr. President, I’m not saying we wouldn’t get our hair mussed.”

"Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks."

Speaking as someone who still has (most) of his teeth thanks to fluoride in my childhood water, I just gotta ask: “What the fuck?”

And what does this have to do with lowering the price of eggs?

I Feel So Pwned

By this relentless man-child’s narcissistic ego.

A Reminder NYC Media Wags The Dog

Lots of self-satisfied attention online to the NYC Democratic primary election and how it proves the “power” of online campaigning v TeeVee ads. Alongside that, lots of crowing about “independent” journalism and Katie Phang on YouTube, etc.

And yet everyone is talking about the NYC Democratic primary like it was a national referendum. All I can say is, down here on the Third Coast in the largest blue city in Texas (which is NOT home to the “Liver King” or Alex Jones, thank you very much!), nobody gives a wet snap who the mayor of NYC is. It was Cuomo? And then Adams? Don’t even know who it is now; don’t care.

Houston is the fourth largest city in the country. Name our mayor. No googling.

Don’t know? Don’t care? Don’t blame you

My only point is, that primary was not a national referendum. I read something somewhere this morning that Obama was “Republican lite” (objectively true), but the NYC proves the nation cries out for a TRUE Democrat.

I mean, sure. Beto O’Rourke was a true Texas Democrat, but he’d be considered Republican lite in some places in America. He lost two statewide races. What works in NYC doesn’t work in Texas; or New Mexico; or large swaths of the country. Howard Dean used to advocate winning every race in every district in every state. That means running as a diverse and inclusive party. Not just a party of one of the nation’s media centers.

If the intertoobs are going to be the home of “independent journalism,” maybe it should be more independent.

Unfit

George Conway:
I’ve had a license to practice law for 36 years and I am morally certain that I’ve never met a lawyer who couldn’t truthfully, emphatically, and categorically deny ever having counseled anyone to say “fuck you” to a court.
I had a few clients who wanted to express that sentiment. I always counseled against it. Even people on the intertoobs who want to say it to the Supremes (that sentiment is not new, by the way). The system works better when you don’t indulge adolescent feelings and strategies.

I never knew a lawyer who was that foolish; or arrogant. But I repeat myself. Certainly any lawyer who said what Bove reportedly said would be considered unfit for the Bar; or at least for the profession, by all the other lawyers.

Press The Meat

No doubt the pilots were brave. But were the bombs “successful”? The answer to that question comes only after information is gathered and assessed. It doesn’t come from watching videos or reading Twitter, especially when the targets are buried underground and can’t be seen from the air (or satellites).
When the reporter went to ask a follow-up question, Hegseth replied, “See this is a point—” he stopped himself and changed gears. “This is how difficult it is to actually manage [the media].”

Hegseth went on to say, “You just watched a video of what this weapon is capable of. That's where we find our confidence and the skill of men and women and the capability of the systems.” He added, “Anyone with two eyes, two ears, and a brain could see the damage that's been done."
And x-ray vision.  But tell us more about how difficult it is to manage the media. Because clearly that’s a government function you’re not good at. Well, one person thinks you are. In the old days we called this “co-dependence.” It just undermines how “tough” Trump says he is. Or Hegseth is, for that matter. Trump ❤️ Hegseth. Hegseth ❤️ Trump. Maybe we should give them some privacy.

Yes, And?

I don’t see the problem with that.

🐶

This is an administration that tweeted out a video of Senator Alex Padilla saying that he didn't identify himself when clearly he did on the video that they tweeted.

This is a president who said that gas prices were below $2 when they weren't.

There is absolutely no trustworthiness of what Donald Trump has been saying to the American public
Like a dog.

And speaking of trustworthiness and incompetence:
“Fed policy is set by a committee of 12 policymakers, a majority of whom Trump won’t be able to pick unless sitting governors leave their seats early,” the publication pointed out. Powell could also remain on the board through 2028 – even if he’s no longer chair.
Trump really has no idea what he’s doing. He knows he can’t fire Powell, but to assuage his anger he wants to announce a replacement, perhaps as early as this summer. Which won’t do anything except make the candidate the least likely person to replace Powell. And it really won’t make any difference, anyway. Except, you know, to scare the markets and convince them the government is in the hands of a complete boob.

💣

Vietnam. We dropped a greater tonnage in that war than in WWII. The bombing undermined the government in Cambodia, which led to Pol Pot’s killing fields. We did not win the war.

I feel like I have to explain that to the FoxNews clown. And I wouldn’t say those bombs “worked.”  Certainly not as intended.

“Let Them Fight”

I don’t think Ronny has a snowball’s chance in hell of winning anything outside the only area in Texas where snow is a regular feature of winter. He’s never run statewide; Paxton has.

Could Paxton win again after his impeachment? Lot of campaign fodder there, which may be why the CW is that Paxton loses the general. The Senate GOP bailed him out, but he hasn’t faced the voters since. The evidence from that case is the only thing I can imagine overriding being a Republican (Texas has been a one party since Reconstruction). Jackson v Paxton in the primaries might save Cornyn. Or not.

Ronny? Yeah; not a snowball’s chance in Houston. Even in Texas, the bull goose loonies don’t have statewide appeal.

The Original Was Better

I’ve seen this speech before.

Otter: Point of parliamentary procedure!
Hoover: Don't screw around, they're serious this time!
Otter: Take it easy, I'm pre-law.
Boon: I thought you were pre-med.
Otter: What's the difference?
[Addressing the room]
Otter: Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests - we did.
[winks at Dean Wormer]
Otter: But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!
[Leads the Deltas out of the hearing, all humming the Star-Spangled Banner]

In Return…

… Netenyahu demands Trump be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

And then they join hands and go down to the shore and command the tides not to come in.

“I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I’m not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.”

Actually, the McCloskey quote is too kind. Trump is just all ego defense mechanism.

And living proof that democracy can really screw the pooch if it tries hard enough.

🤡

Ultra Low Performance Idiot

Like the kind you see in the movies, where nothing is actually destroyed, it just looks like it for the movie? So here’s an article first published in 2022 explaining why it was no Hiroshima, no Nagasaki, due to Ultra High Performance Concrete. They’re taking Trump’s victory away. How rude! Sure, that’s the story…

⛽️

Does Trump STILL not understand oil is a global market and the major oil companies are multi-national corporations? Oil drilled in America is sold globally as a fungible good. We actually controlled global oil pricing because of Biden’s use of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. I doubt Trump understands that, either. 🎶"It’s money that matters!/In the U.S.A.🎶
Reid: They overthrew the shah who we imposed on Iran because the Dulles brothers, one at the CIA and one at the state department, decided that the oil beneath the soil of Iran belonged to BP and belonged to us. And when mossadegh, who was the leader of Iran, the democratically elected leader of Iran, said that we would like to audit BP because we want to know if you are cheating us or paying the people of Iran based on the oil under their soil. And they said, you may not audit us. And then we overthrew him and he wound up dying in prison because we decided in our arrogance as a country, got to own their oil.
Oil doesn’t belong to a country. It belongs to the market. Granted, that has changed somewhat since the Dulles brothers, but only to put the countries in control of access.

The oil still belongs to the markets.
Well, he did make it possible for China to buy oil from Iran, so I guess that counts?

All Hail The Stingy State

RFK, Jr is sure they can get wearables, instead.
