Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Keeping track of the Roy Moore news of the day.  Item one:  they really need a new set of metaphors; these Biblical ones ain't workin'!

Yup; Roy Moore and Jesus know what persecution is!  Besides, Mary was a teenager, she knows what it's like to be molested by an older man to whom she's not married!  Wait a minute, that's not right....

Meanwhile, back at the ranch the nut-cutting has begun (sorry; ranch humor):

A day after explosive allegations of sexual assault surfaced against Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore, the Republican Party’s senate campaign arm has severed financial ties with the embattled former state supreme court justice.

A joint fundraising committee benefitting Moore and a handful of Republican Party organs filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Friday removing the National Republican Senatorial Committee as one of its beneficiaries. Going forward, the committee’s fundraising will benefit Moore’s Senate campaign, the Alabama Republican Party, and the Republican National Committee but not the NRSC.

Besides:  Jesus, Mary and Joseph!  And it ain't like it was rape or something:

“It isn’t like they’re saying rape or molestation,” he added. “It was unwanted advances. I think it has absolutely no volition.”

No, I don't understand it, either,  Must be an Alabama thing.  And the funny thing is:  this is a GOP problem:

“Karl Rove, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, (Sen. Richard) Shelby and probably a few more in the establishment,” Thibado believed were the culprits of the story. “They’d rather have a Democrat in that’s going to toe the line.”

Which, frankly, is just fine with me.  The Senate is making noises that they don't want Moore there.  If I were Roy Moore, I wouldn't be making much book that the Senate is gonna let him in.  If the GOP lets Moore have a place on the floor, the Democrats are going to hang it around their necks and go to town in 2018 and beyond.  If the GOP blocks Moore, they're gonna have hell to pay in their primaries in 2018, especially in the South.

Gotta go make some popcorn.....

But before I do, please to note Roy Moore himself is now saying he didn't do it, but he did, and besides, it was okay that he did!

Moore claimed he never met Leigh Corfman, the woman who said she had sexual contact with him when she was 14.

Uh, yeah, stop right there a moment.  From WaPo:

Leigh Corfman says she was 14 years old when an older man approached her outside a courtroom in Etowah County, Ala. She was sitting on a wooden bench with her mother, they both recall, when the man introduced himself as Roy Moore.

It was early 1979 and Moore — now the Republican nominee in Alabama for a U.S. Senate seat — was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. He struck up a conversation, Corfman and her mother say, and offered to watch the girl while her mother went inside for a child custody hearing.

“He said, ‘Oh, you don’t want her to go in there and hear all that. I’ll stay out here with her,’ ” says Corfman’s mother, Nancy Wells, 71. “I thought, how nice for him to want to take care of my little girl.”
Nancy Wells is one of 30 sources for the WaPo article, aside from the four women who accuse Moore of inappropriate behavior and relationships with them as children.  Now, carry on:

“With regard to the other girls, you understand this is 40 years ago after my return from the military, I dated a lot of young ladies,” he said, responding to claims made by other women. He went on to say he does recognize the names of two of the women, Debbie Wesson Gibson and Gloria Thacker Deason, whose maiden names he remembered.

As journalists on Twitter noted, Moore’s story seemed to change multiple times — he claimed both that he never dated girls even in their “late teens” but also that he never dated any girls without the permission of their mothers.

“You don’t specifically remember having a girlfriend that was in her late teens even at that time?” Hannity asked him.

“I don’t remember that and I don’t remember ever dating any girl without the permission of her mother,” Moore responded.

I know my daughter's boyfriend asked my wife's permission to date her because...well, that never happened, as they're only about a year apart in age, if that much.

Later in the interview, he said he never engaged in any sexual relationships with the girls, and that they were wholly appropriate.

“Obviously, we never had any sexual activity, there was never anything like that, and the behavior was altogether appropriate,” the former Alabama Supreme Court Justice said.
Well, you think it was, but they don't.  And besides, how could this have happened if it never happened?  I thought your wife was going to sue WaPo for defamation.  Isn't truth an absolute defense in such suits?

But wait, there's more (almost used the pun!  Almost!):

Yeah, that's another Senator who won't be anxious to vote to allow you a seat, Judge.  Jeff Flake can't be counted on, either:

And, by the way, Judge, what is truth?
And apparently aware of what he'd just said to Hannity, Moore changed his tune before the program ended:
This is how you circle down the drain.....

and because I can't stop once I've started, I have to say:  why do you think we used to call 'em "yellow dog Democrats"?

And once more with feeling:  don't seat Roy Moore!
I'm gonna need more popcorn!
