Trump yesterday:
That was a horrible event, and we have to stop it, and we have to stop it cold. We also have to come up with punishment that’s far quicker and far greater than the punishment these animals are getting right now. They’ll go through court for years. And at the end, they’ll be — who knows what happens.Trump 'round midnight:
We need quick justice and we need strong justice — much quicker and much stronger than we have right now. Because what we have right now is a joke and it’s a laughingstock. And no wonder so much of this stuff takes place. And I think I can speak for plenty of other countries, too, that are in the same situation.
And Trump this morning:NYC terrorist was happy as he asked to hang ISIS flag in his hospital room. He killed 8 people, badly injured 12. SHOULD GET DEATH PENALTY!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 2, 2017
Would love to send the NYC terrorist to Guantanamo but statistically that process takes much longer than going through the Federal system...— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 2, 2017
...There is also something appropriate about keeping him in the home of the horrible crime he committed. Should move fast. DEATH PENALTY!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 2, 2017
So, our justice system sucks, and why can't we move straight to execution, and this murderer was going to Gitmo but now, maybe not anyway he should be dead, dead! DEAD!!! Do you think somebody explained to him there is no Federal death penalty? And does anybody doubt this scream-of-consciousness is because the assault was in NYC? That Trump is reacting the way he would if he still lived there, and wasn't the POTUS? Because he's really not reacting like the head of the branch of government that administers justice.
Trump helped the terrorist with this tweet. Now prosecutors will have to spend time dealing with motions that the jury pool is tainted. https://t.co/YJk05aem6U— Renato Mariotti (@renato_mariotti) November 2, 2017
This is called potentially tainting jury pool & could impact alleged perpetrator's ability to secure fair trial. SMH #Unpresidential https://t.co/b6ELLJZ0zy— Mark S. Zaid (@MarkSZaidEsq) November 2, 2017
Mueller can't work fast enough for me.
