And frankly, the Democrats care about this as much as they care about the "hearsay" of the whistleblower. Refusal to cooperate is grounds for a charge (or two) of obstruction. Given how Trump's support is trending, I don't think even the Senate is going to care that much about a fully developed paper trail.
