This is a dumb, fallacious argument.— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) October 8, 2019
The Democrats are terrible at politics, terrible at power, and terrible at communications.
They're in a Constitutional crisis, and they're playing this like weaklings.
Spectacle demands spectacle, power demands power. They suck at it. https://t.co/wnWaiiFNFj
To this complaint:
Article I of Nixon Impeachment:— Neal Katyal (@neal_katyal) October 8, 2019
in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, [he] has ... withh[eld] relevant& material evidence or information from lawfully authorized investigative officers ... of the UShttps://t.co/cIVYJIB8XM
I don't remember "inherent contempt" being used against witnesses in Watergate, and yet Nixon still managed to obstruct justice. This is not a TeeVee fight where bad guys are arrested willy-nilly and thrown in jail at the drop of a hat and the good guys win by standing tough for 60 minutes.
This is precisely the argument that can now be made:
The timing of this is more interesting than the decision. They could've objected a week ago. Pulling the plug the morning of suggests the WH has figured out some of his answers would be really damaging. https://t.co/O34oIgsiSF— Matthew Miller (@matthewamiller) October 8, 2019
And still the polls show approval for impeachment....
