...has released a proposed school calendar for academic year 2020-2021. It includes an earlier start date, longer breaks at winter (Christmas) and spring break, and staggered class days to reduce the number of people on campus on any one day.
It is also only a suggestion, since Texas has independent school districts that set their own calendars within the provisions and requirements of state law. The agency, in other words, has no authority to impose this calendar on any school district, and no school district in Texas takes the TEA's suggestions on such matters as gospel or law.
So what effect does Trump think he has? About as much as Jared has over the date of the November election.
