I am a f*****g doctor. I lead a health clinic in East Austin and treat #COVID19 patients.— Dr. Pritesh Gandhi (@priteshgandhimd) August 5, 2020
America is out of its mind thinking we are even remotely prepared for school this fall. We are definitely NOT ready & if people say we are, it's either out of ignorance or arrogance. (1/x)
Heath Ledger's Joker is in charge of state governments.
Parents who stay home who develop symptoms? Do they not get high priority access to rapid testing? Because when stay-at-home dad has a fever, waiting one week for test results does nothing for his 3 young children & their school. (3/x)— Dr. Pritesh Gandhi (@priteshgandhimd) August 5, 2020
By the time one school shuts down because of one case, everyone will have been exposed for two weeks. How about them apples, teacher?
And when you close one school and parents have another student in another school that isn't closed?
And all of this comes down to the absolute disregard for life by this administration & its enablers.— Dr. Pritesh Gandhi (@priteshgandhimd) August 5, 2020
All of this performative crap about caring for "life" but really, whether its gun violence, COVID, or poverty, it just doesn't matter to this President and his leadership. (5/x)
Texas has one of the highest, if not the highest, rates of uninsured and underinsured in America. Although I'd extend that "disregard for life" to the entire GOP. Greg Abbott. Ken Paxton. They didn't drink the Kool-Aid. They prepared it.
Our nation continues to struggle because we frame every issue by politics. We leave no room for nuance. No room for reasoned debate. Purity tests abound.— Dr. Pritesh Gandhi (@priteshgandhimd) August 5, 2020
And therefore, we end up with feckless leaders who know not one damn thing about collaboration & execution. (7/x)
It's a representative government. We have met the enemy, and he is us.
That, my friends, is my rant for tonight.— Dr. Pritesh Gandhi (@priteshgandhimd) August 5, 2020
Sincerely,
A #COVID19 doctor, father, husband, and former congressional candidate angry after six months of fighting a pandemic that we could have prevented.
"Shall we go?"
"Yes, let us go."
[They do not move.]
Curtain.
At my sister's school the idiot school board (a tautology) has decided they're going to give each student K-12 five masks which they're expected to keep track of and keep clean and parents are supposed to take their kids' temperature every morning before they go to school and if they have one over 100.4 they're supposed to stay home. My sister pointed out that her school which serves some very, very poor neighborhoods have many 7-year-olds who get themselves on the bus or walk to school as their parents have to be at work, not to mention that a lot of the parents are of marginal functionality - lots of drugs and alcoholism - NH sells tons of rot-gut handle vodka - not to mention some of the parents are probably unable to read or use a thermometer. It's going to be a shit show with many deaths.
