REPORTER: But won’t they buy it from
Insurance companies?

Thanks to federal law, you can go to the emergency room without insurance, and you must be treated. Enough that you can leave again, with the immediate crisis ended. Beyond that, you can’t afford treatment or the drugs you might need to survive.
But sure: negotiate. See where that gets you.
The only person making this argument is the person who gets free government healthcare.
y'know, he was always this ignorant. The dementia gives him an extra burst of weird and anger, but he- and almost everyone on the right who hates the ACA- have always tried to sell the idea people can somehow negotiate what they pay for medicine, as if getting treatment for a bad heart is the same thing as a shady real estate deal.
ReplyDeleteWhenever Trump talked about agriculture, it never took very long to realize he had very little idea what he was talking about. I think most farmers knew that and ignored it, just as doctors who heard him talk about *their* line of work gave him a pass, so on and so forth. Nobody ever seemed to ask themselves, "if he's this out of touch on what I do, why should I think he knows anything about the rest of it?"
“A man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest.”—Paul Simon
ReplyDeleteI think it’s too easy to say “He doesn’t understand what I do” and excuse it because you like the “attitude” (whatever that means). It’s also easy to assume Trump, like Presidents before him, will hire experts to give him sound guidance. But Trump is allergic to guidance. He asked CEO’s what to do about “affordability,” and then decided lowering tariffs on coffee and bananas would make the Thanksgiving dinner cheap again. IOW, he’s as incompetent as his advisors; as the doctors and farmers are learning. Too late.
