GOP SC Sen Graham: "We’re in the Twilight Zone when it comes to Kavanaugh"— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
Durbin on Kavanaugh: I think they are going to “plow through,” according to one of the senators (this is a reference to what McConnell said at the Value Voters Summit on Friday) Durbin: The approval rating on Judge Kavanaugh are going lower.— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
Graham on how the questioning might work of Ford/Kavanaugh may work:— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
This idea that 11 people get five minutes of questioning is about the most disjointed thing you can imagine.
Judiciary Cmte officially sends notice for hearing Thursday. 1st panel has Ford solo. 2nd panel has Kavanaugh solo.— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
Format of Thursday hrng still up in the air. Unclear if they will have outside counsel. But sides don't appear willing to slam the door to that possibility. Also, only Grassley/Feinstein will deliver opening statements in addition to the witnesses (Ford/Kavanaugh).— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
Nothing official on how many rounds of questioning for Thursday Kavanaugh hearing. But have heard for several days they were looking at multiple rounds of 5-minute segments for each mbr of the Judiciary Cmte— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
Cmte vote on Kavanaugh is not officially out of the question for Thurs. Cmte could "notice" a cmte vote for later that day & delay it. But in truth, few expect a cmte vote before Friday. That means a confirmation vote wouldn't happen until Tues at the earliest, if not later— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
Kavanaugh nomination is in trouble. That's why McConnell made blistering speech today. Baseball teams mail it in once they are out of pennant race. McConnell trying to get GOPers to run out out every ground ball in effort to salvage nomination. Kavanaugh lacks the votes right now— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 24, 2018
Multiple GOP senators say they want to hear from Ford. Many of the senators confided in Fox that they could in fact vote against Kavanaugh if they hear something in Thursday’s testimony which could influence how they see him.— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 25, 2018
Kavanaugh requires 51 yeas for confirmation. Senate divided 51 GOPers to 49 Sens who caucus with Dems. 41 GOPers are yeas. 10 GOPers have not pledged their votes yet: Cassidy, Collins, Corker, Enzi, Flake, Kennedy, Lankford, Moran, Murkowski & Sasse.— Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) September 25, 2018
And I can't read the words of Judge Kavanaugh's righteous indignation without hearing steel balls being rolled around in the palm of his right hand.
“I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. The last minute character assassination will not succeed.”
“There is now a frenzy to come up with something—anything—that will block this process and a vote on my confirmation from occurring. These are smears, pure and simple. And they debase our public discourse...Women from every phase of my life have come forward to attest to my character. I am grateful to them. I owe it to them, and to my family, to defend my integrity and my name. I look forward to answering questions from the Senate on Thursday.”
If we don't find out what happened to the strawberries, there's no reason not to confirm!
