Let's review: McConnell said the Senate rules require a trial if Trump is impeached. In the same statement he said the rules don't determine how long the trial has to last. He's now running campaign ads saying Trump won't be removed from office so long as McConnell is in office. It's a pretty weak argument next November, but no matter. It tells you all you need to know.
