The Bottomless Rabbit Hole 🐇

That got me curious, so I had to run it down. Actually, I stumbled on the answer. Now, there are a lot of reasons to call bullshit on this. For one, the justices are meeting on Zoom. But some Zoom calls can be “overheard.” So, what, the call is made through a room in the Court building where 9 computers face each other? Because that’s the way it would work in a movie? (The idea that staff on the call would talk about the call is equally ludicrous.)

But the fundamental problem is the idea that CJ Roberts needed to persuade the other Justices and he did it by yelling at them. 7 Justices voted to deny the motion; 2 said they’d have accepted it, but denied relief (which sounds like the newest Court vogue: issuing advisory opinions on moot cases). The outcome, in other words, was never even in doubt. Unless, again, you think Roberts yelling at his colleagues works.

But the story of Roberts screaming about it proves...? What? Evil forces are coercing our institutions to deny Trump his righteous victory? And Roberts was possessed by these forces? Or part of the conspiracy?

You do have to be an imbecile to believe this story.

  1. I don't recognize the liar in the C-Span video. I wonder what the Court members would do if they figured out which staffer spread the story, I'm sure they're expected if not sworn to practice discretion about what they hear in such circumstances. They were certainly breaking the decorum over decent people not eavesdropping and spreading gossip.

To call Roberts a "liberal justice" is a whopper of a lie in itself. The liar should be impeached on that alone.
