When In Worry, When In Doubt

Flynn is dangerous, largely in who he will inspire (if not actually incite, which is what he fears now; being responsible for incitement, I mean) into violence.  Trump is just delusional.

Both are going to be very disappointed.  Neither, however, represent a significant threat to the democratic foundations of this country.  Like Dan Patrick in Texas, they are really very bad at this, imagining that what they think is very important to many, many people, and the world will soon dance to their tune if they just play the music long enough.

I read a comment recently by an apologist for Trump that the courts had rejected any attempts to present evidence of fraud in late 2020.  What happened, of course, is that no such evidence could be produced.  Courts run on rules, not on rhetorical dodges.  And they won’t be impressed with Flynn arguing he used a comma in his speech, or the “audit” in Arizona that even the Washington Times has given up on.  Those claims won’t fare any better in court, and outside the courts, no mechanism exists to overturn the results of the election (no mechanism exists within the courts, either, but that’s another matter).

Flynn, Trump and even Patrick are all three delusional, and somewhat dangerous.  But largely, like their sense of legend, it resides almost wholly in their own minds.

  1. I think it would be good to hold Flynn accountable for what he said the other day because he was a General - apparently it's true, they never become entirely inactive - who was calling for the violent overthrowing of the elected government of the United States and that is on top of his history of known and admitted acting as an agent of governments hostile to our elected government. Trump pardoning him is only proof that letting presidents do that to members of their administration and their supporters was a stupidly dangerous thing for the thugs and gangsters who wrote the Constitution to have left to a sense of "honor" among future thieves and gangsters. I think that many of the things which the Mercers, the Putins, the other billionaire gangsters have weaponized against us are exactly those things put there to benefit slave holders and gangsters from the northern mercantile and financial elites. I think that's one of the reasons that "treason" is so narrowly defined in the odd way it is defined, because they wanted the option of doing many of the other things that may be considered treasonous.
