Yeah, I Know, That Horse Is Dead....

"But it is notable to me that that's the forum he's choosing," noted Weissmann. "He did not do that. You played the clip earlier of Pat Cipollone saying essentially where are the facts? Rudy Giuliani had a bar disciplinary proceeding where they said where are the facts to show that you should not be disbarred for making these claims. It didn't appear there. It didn't appear in any of the over 60 cases in court. So, it is notable to me that Donald Trump is trying to do this in a form where there's no cross-examination, there's no jury. It's going to be completely one-sided."

Trump literally has nothing.

Why else are Trump's "allies" demanding that Georgia change the gravitational constant of the universe?  There's a reason Southern states don't allow their Executive unbridled pardon power (I'm frankly amazed at how much authority DeSantis has over Florida state government.).  It wasn't such a good idea at the Federal level when Trump was in office the first time.  The federal pardon power will create an unmitigated disaster if Trump wins re-election.

His only real hope against the federal charges has been to try to hold off trials until he's elected, and then he can have the charges dismissed.  Which would be bad enough, but even worse would be a self-pardon, and the question of who has standing to take that case to the Supremes?  (Who might think it was just fine, really pouring kerosene on that constitutional dumpster fire.) And that's also why his "allies" want Georgia to change their laws instanter.

Because POTUS can't pardon state crimes.

The GOP is no longer about governance and "good government."  It's only about power.  Raw, naked, governmental power (the only real game on the block, when you're talking about power).  And that's not beating a horse; that's ringing the alarm bell.
