I was going to turn off the AI junk on Google then I read that it just doesn't display it but it still generates it - generating AI takes an enormous amount of energy, which is why I wanted to do that. I figured out a short time ago that all it is is an enhanced Google search that lifts text from other places and puts it up - including junk. It's not generating it's cribbing.
ReplyDeleteAI is collecting words according to programmed patterns. The lawsuit over ChatGPT convincing a teenager to commit suicide shows a program simply assembling words in a simulacrum of speech. But it’s just a dictionary generating syntax. The hype is that it’s more than that, and that hype got a kid killed.
