I was assured crime in D.C. is non-existent now. I didn’t understand they meant “criminal prosecutions.”

If this is true, what’s stopping him? (I think it’s the same thing stopping him from running for a third term: he doesn’t want to. Trump doesn’t want to be a lame duck, but he is. And he doesn’t want to go to war; he just wants to scare Maduro out of office, to show he can, too, influence foreign leaders! Please note the similarities:

The odds are zip and none he will ever face the ICC, because he never leaves the country except in AF1, and because the U.S. is not a signatory to the ICC treaty. Odds are equally low he’ll ever be forcibly removed from office, but going to war against Venezuela might well hand Democrats the entire Congress on a platter, and insure impeachment AND removal post-2026, especially if Trump stands on his assertion (bluster) that he can go to war all by his lonesome.

Trump is a bully. He claims he can go to war when he wants to because it makes him look tough (he thinks). He threatens a third-term so he won’t be a lame duck (too late). Being a bully, he’s also a coward.

He also doesn’t want to go to Congress for war authorization because he knows he won’t get it. He doesn’t want to be a “loser.” He’s only capable of thinking of this personally. He isn’t strategic or thinking geopolitically. He just wants to be large and in charge. He also wants Maduro to back down, rather than laugh at his mighty sword. Remember when Trump was going to annex Canada and take Greenland from Denmark? He was “very serious.” Whatever happened to that?)
